Technology for SEN


Are you new to the learning support team in your school or feel you need an ICT refresher?Are you making the most of the ICT facilities at your disposal?
How would you like:

  • up todate advice and tips on suitable websites to assist with attainment of SEN targets,

  • some websites for creating resources for pupils with SEN,

  • tips for updating your Chrome browser to provide a much needed boost to children with SEN,

  • unbiased advice on the most suitable equipment for the SEN pupils in your care.

If you answered yes to each question above then perhaps Sligo Education Centre have just what you need as there will be two SEN support afternoons which, subject to release by your principal/BOM, you may find of great benefit. Both of these will workshops will be facilitated by Adrian Keena who has 16 years’ experience working with pupils with SEN and 20+ years’ experience delivering ICT courses.

Workshop 1 concentrating on how to create resources for ICT using SEN Teacher (visual schedules and aids, AAC photo cards, worksheets, sight word cards, etc) Worksheet Factory, Topmarks, Oxford Reading Tree, Starfall, Crickweb, Autism Speaks and many more.

Date:   28th September  (1pm - 5pm)

Workshop 2 concentrating on accessibility features of ANY browser and later updating your Chrome browser with suitable apps (including Google Docs) and extensions to assist pupils with SEN. How to install these free tools and use them to support pupils with SEN.
