Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is an approach to language learning where subjects are taught through Gaeilge, e.g. Art, PE, Drama, etc.
During this seminar, participants will engage with a range of practical activities and proven methodologies to encourage and support the implementation of CLIL.

Measures in Primary Mathematics –An Inquiry Based Approach to Measures and STEM more
This seminar provides participants with an engaging and stimulating Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) approach to Measures in Mathematics with meaningful connections to STEM. By experiencing practical activities that embody IBL,
teacher participants will explore pupil misconceptions in Measures and respond by giving consideration to developing pupils’ mathematical proficiencies. Participants will also explore innovative approaches to planning and assessing IBL lessons. Two teachers per school can apply to attend and substitute cover is available. Each teacher must apply
individually online via www.pdst.ie/onlinebooking.

SPHE and the Visual Arts Seminar more
The PDST Health and Wellbeing Team is delighted to extend the Getting to Know You….Creatively seminar to all Education Centres this year. The seminar was piloted successfully in a select number of Education
Centres during Term 3 of the 2017-2018 school year.This seminar aims to explore the Visual Arts (Fabric and fibre / Construction) as a meaningful context for fostering positive self-identity and personal wellbeing and to facilitate the effective integration of SPHE and Visual Arts to support the children’s emotional literacy.
By attending this seminar, participants will:
1. Explore the Visual Arts as a meaningful context for fostering positive self-identity and personal wellbeing
2. Facilitate the effective integration of SPHE and Visual Arts to support the children’s emotional literacy
This practical and experiential seminar is suitable for all primary school teachers. We will be providing some materials for you. We are requesting that participants please bring the following items: apron/old
shirt to cover your clothes, cardboard, journal/notebook, fabric scissors, pencils/pens, any scraps of material, buttons/sequins/ribbon and a big box to bring all of your creations home!
Please note substitution is not being provided for this seminar.
