Implementing Science of Reading practices in early years’ classrooms

March 21st (7pm)
Dr Jennifer O' Sullivan
As humans, we were never born to read.
Recent studies of the brain have demonstrated how we learn to read, what goes wrong when children don’t learn, and what kind of instruction is most likely to work for most children.
Jennifer O'Sullivan, PhD will examine how the science of reading has helped to shape and also challenge how we teach reading to young children. She will draw on Scarborough’s Reading Rope to highlight evidence-based practices that can be brought into the classroom to support children’s early reading.
