This webinar is specially designed for primary teachers of
EAL learners (3rd class – 6th class) with a particular
emphasis on lessons within a support teaching setting. It outlines the typical
stages of an EAL lesson with learners aged 9 – 12 years, including
research-informed strategies for effective practice and signposting links to
appropriate corresponding resources for transfer to registrants’ own contexts.
The webinar will conclude with an opportunity for questions and answers.

Aoife Merrins Gallagher is a primary school teacher with experience in both mainstream and support positions since 2013. Her recent doctoral research designed, developed, and delivered an English-Irish oral narrative programme for nine linguistically diverse infant classrooms (Tell-a-Tale | Inis Scéal). Aoife has lectured in DCU and MU, and frequently facilitates webinars through Education Centres across Ireland. She has authored and delivered DES approved face-to-face EAL summer courses since 2021. Her experiences as a teacher, lecturer and researcher can demystify the world of EAL for workshop attendees.
