Drama for Wellbeing: Resilience, Empathy, Self Expression, Decision-making.

Aoibhinn Finnegan will examine the role drama in the primary curriculum plays in supporting and developing student wellbeing.
This webinar strives to define wellbeing as a concept, and in particular, define wellbeing in the primary school context.
The ‘five ways to wellbeing’ will be outlined. Social emotional learning will be explored alongside the documentation of drama practices to enhance these skills .
Aoibhinn will explore 3 practical dramas that teachers can use to develop wellbeing in their classrooms.
Junior Classes:

3rd and 4th Classes:
Empathy and Self Expression through drama: practical drama for . ‘The Famine’.
Senior Classes:
Decision making through drama: practical drama for ‘Tom Crean’.
She will
- Define wellbeing and wellbeing in the primary curriculum context
- Highlight the ways in which drama promotes wellbeing in areas identified in ‘The five ways to wellbeing’.
- Evaluate social emotional learning and identify how these areas can be supported through drama.
