This webinar is aimed at mainstream teachers of Junior Cycle English.
It provides teachers with two Units of Learning which can be used at the start of the school term.
Presenters, Ann Marie Garvey, and Elaine McGowan, two practicing teachers of English will discuss how they make the intended learning explicit in the classroom, and how to use methodologies and resources to deepen and consolidate this learning.
This webinar will illustrate how in the building of these units, teachers can elicit students’ previous knowledge and interests to ensure a deep engagement from the learner. In addition, the webinar will also highlight how to integrate assessment in its variety of modes into the teaching and learning of these Units.
Teachers will receive a resource pack which will include:
- A Unit of Learning for First and Third Year J.C English and
- Resources to support the learning experiences within the Units.
Ann Marie Garvey has over twenty years teaching experience and has just returned to her classroom in Coláiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon after three years as an English Advisor with Junior Cycle for Teachers. She has been an Advising Examiner of Leaving Cert Higher Level English for the past six years and remains an English Associate with JCT.
Elaine McGowan has over twenty years teaching experience and is currently a teacher of English and History and a Year Head in St. Attracta's Community School. She was an Examiner for both Junior and Leaving Cert English . Elaine has returned to the classroom after a four year secondment to Junior Cycle for teachers as English Advisor.
