Sligo Education Centre aims to provide support to teachers and the wider education community, and to be an accessible and welcoming place of learning, reflection and social interaction.
Welcome to our website, the aim of which is to provide an on-line service for the teachers of Sligo and surrounding areas.Through this website we hope to provide access to the Education Centre's resources and to keep teachers informed of up coming events and courses available to them here in the Sligo Education Centre.

Primary Child Protection Seminars

As you are aware, the Department of Education and Skills issued the Revised Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools in December 2017, underpinned by the revised guidelines ‘Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2017’. The PDST therefore was also required to update its range of supports for schools, in line with the revised procedures and new guidelines.more

Primary Number Sense Workshop
PDST presents two workshops on developing number sense with young pupils (Junior Infants - 2nd Class). Number sense focuses on "classroom conversations around purposefully crafted computation problems that are solved mentally (Parrish 2014)". Through practical activities, we will illustrate how teachers can help all pupils develop a deeper, more intuitive, understanding and flexibility when working with numbers.

Mata sa Rang (Maths Recovery) for Primary Schools 2018 - Module 1
Maths Recovery (Ireland) in conjunction with Sligo Education Centre invites primary schools who are interested in having teachers trained in Mata sa Rang to apply for inclusion in this programme more
