The Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003 establishes three key rights:·
The right to access official records held by Sligo Education Centre;·
The right to have personal information corrected or updated where such information is incorrect, incomplete or misleading;·
The right of individuals to be given reasons for decisions taken by public bodies which affect them.
The Act asserts the right of members of the public to obtain access to official information to the greatest extent possible consistent with the public interest and the right to privacy of individuals.
In general, members of the public are entitled to obtain official information from Sligo Education Centre provided it does not conflict with the public interest and the right of privacy of individuals.
